Stay or Go
The kitten is on my lap again. Since she lives in my computer room, its a pretty common place to find her. She's adorable, and she's purring. She'd be asleep if I would stop shifting positions... If I didn't have two large dogs, a cat, and five geckos I would keep her with no question. My dogs are fine with other animals, but my cat hates them. The geckos just don't want to be eaten. I am quite attached to this kitten, but I don't know that it would be for the best for me to keep her. My boyfriend should be back from the Marines soon. He's a reservist, and graduates from his year-long training at the end of October. He's the cat-lover whereas I am the dog-lover, though we both love all animals. He's interested in keeping her, and at least with him I know she will be well cared for. I just want to do what is best for her in the long run... | | Monday, September 30th, 2002 | | 12:54 pm |
The Dogs I live completely alone, in a decent sized house. My social life is nearly nil due to my schedule, and how it conveniently clashes with those of my friends. Giving up sleep is the best way for me to see anyone. To add more joy to my life, my best friend lives out of town, and my boyfriend is in the marines. Thus its a good thing that I have my dogs. Dakota, a golden retriever mutt, I have had since moving out of my parent's home. I found him at the humane society. Only later were his little problems discovered. He was born with various problems with his digestive system, and therefore can't wait to go to the bathroom like other dogs. It was hard living in an apartment with him, but now that I have my house its better. Puppy housetraining pads are in a corner of my basement, so he knows exactly where to go. My stress level has diminished in regards to that. Dante is my black lab, and I have had him for roughly three years now. He was the runt of his litter, though he is still a very large dog. If he were more obedient, he would be perfect for dog shows, just because of his physique. He isn't, however, the most obedient animal. I think he knows that he can take me... Well, despite their charms, they are my constant companions. They shed all over my house with no regard for the fact that I get to clean up after them, hop onto my lap despite their enormous sizes, and drop saliva coated tennis balls into my formerly dry lap. They're my boys. They're far from perfect, but they're mine. | | 12:44 am |
Enter Luna I am sitting here with a little black kitten asleep on my lap. She is dead weight, but I don't take the term lightly. One week ago I was driving along the road when I saw a little black mound of fur on the shoulder. Being the animal lover I am, I stopped to examine it. I figured that it had been hit by a car, but instead it had just been abandoned. It was a 7-week-old, extremely ill, kitten. Upon realizing that she was still breathing, I picked her up and placed her in my lap, driving immediately to an animal hospital near my house. She had a plethora of problems, ranging from parasites to infections and malnutrition, but I'm a sucker for critters. I got her all the medication and shots she needed, and brought her home. She now lives in my den, much to the dismay of my other cat. At least the dogs and lizards don't seem to care to have another guest. Luna loves everyone though. She will purr if you walk into the room. She even purrs while she is fighting against taking her medication. How could I not love this kitten? |
